USA wins joint venture with Canada and Mexico to host 2026 World Cup

The United State’s will not be competing in the upcoming 2018 World Cup in Russia, and it is unknown if they will make the next World Cup.  What is known after Wednesday is that the US will be part of the 2026 world cup as at least the host nation.  FIFA took its vote on the host location Wednesday and chose a joint hosting venture between the United States, Mexico and Canada.  The joint venture defeated its only opponent Morocco.  This 2026 World Cup, which is the largest sporting event on the globe, will feature an expanded field of 48 teams, up from 32 and be the first time in FIFA history a joint hosting venture hosts the World Cup.
