Twins sign SS Carroll to a two year deal
The Minnesota Twins made their first signing of the free agent period. The Twins have signed veteran middle infielder Jamey Carroll to a two-year 6/75 million dollar contract. Carroll is a 10-year major league vet who has played for the Expos, Nationals, Rockies, Indians and spent the past two years with the Dodgers. In 2011 he had a .290 batting average and stole 10 bases. He is expected to compete with Toishi Nishioka for the short-stop position.
