Groton Blood Drive Held Dec 13 at American Legion

Groton, SD - The Groton Community Blood Drive will be held Tuesday, December 13th at the Groton American Legion Clubroom from 11:40 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Appointments may be made by contacting Kathy at 605-397-8102 or go to www.bloodhero.com and enter "Groton" as the sponsor code. The blood drive is sponsored by the Groton Lions Club and Groton Kiwanis Club.

Time is precious, especially during the holiday months when families gather and volunteers are needed more than ever. For United Blood Services, it is no different. United Blood Services relies on volunteer blood donors all year long to keep its hospital shelves stocked, prepared for the unexpected. During the holiday season, donor participation declines during a time when supply is critically needed. Unfortunately, with more people traveling and out on the road, more accidents are likely to occur.
"United Blood Services understands that there are many opportunities to volunteer during the holidays. One of the most rewarding is giving the gift of life," said Leah Finck, United Blood Services Representative. "One hour of your time spent at our center or a community blood drive can save the lives of three people."
People who are 16 and older, and in good health are eligible to donate. Donors are asked to bring a photo ID and donor card every time they donate. First-time donors will receive a card with their blood type in the mail shortly after their first donation.
