Aberdeen Seeking Entrepreneurs Ready to Grow

Aberdeen, SD - Aberdeen and Brown County entrepreneurs and small businesses, ready to take their business to the next level, are being sought to apply for the Dakota Rising Fellowship.
Aberdeen (and Brown County) has been re-certified as a “Dakota Rising” site. Dakota Rising Aberdeen is a collaborative effort championed by Absolutely!Aberdeen, Aberdeen Downtown Association, Small Business Development Center and Northern State University.
Dakota Rising is as an entrepreneurship assistance effort to assist entrepreneurs and small businesses ready to take the next step, and identify potential “fellows” for even more intentional assistance through the fellowship. The fellowship process also may lead to a $10,000 cash grant to those selected to invest in their business and their own personal/professional development. The program really isn’t designed for start-up businesses, but “second-stage entrepreneurs”. SD Rural Enterprise is the sponsor of the state program.
January 1, 2012 is the deadline for potential “fellows” to submit their intent to apply for the Dakota Rising Fellowship. The “intent to apply” process is quite simple and done on line. Businesses or entrepreneurs who do business in or live in Brown County are eligible to apply.
Entrepreneurs and small business people who are ready to take the next step and to apply as a Dakota Rising Fellow are encouraged to contact Absolutely!Aberdeen at 605-725-5070 or juliem.johnson@absolutelyaberdeen.com, the Aberdeen Downtown Association at 605-226-3441, or the Small Business Development Center at 605-626-6525.
