PIERRE, S.D. - Just prior to giving his State of the State address Tuesday in Pierre, Gov. Dennis Daugaard said former South Dakota Gov. Bill Janklow has been moved to hospice care. Daugaard asked that everyone keep Janklow and his family in their prayers. According to recent reports, former Gov Janklow had recently been diagnosed with inoperable cancer and was starting treatment. Janklow was elected governor in 1978 and served two four-year terms. He lost the Republican Senate primary in 1986.Janklow served another two four-year terms as governor beginning in 1994.
