JRWDD Elects Members at Annual Meeting



Huron, SD - The James River Water Development District held its annual meeting on January 11, 2012. Jim Lane of Yankton was elected as Chairman, re-elected were Randy Stanley of Groton Vice-Chairman, Randy Grismer as Secretary and Gary Boomsma of Wolsey was re-appointed as Treasurer for the District.
 
The Board will help Brown County with the removal of an abandoned bridge that is blocking the flow of the river.  The Board will also enter into negotiations with Brown County to help with their water management plan.  
 Staff from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources gave the Water Development District  an informational presentation on the new Director areas, each Director will represent approximately 13,500 residents.
 
The Board finalized the Draft report from Legislative Audit  and discussed its recommendations which some have already been put in place.
 
The Board heard updates on the Watershed Management Plan they are working on with the Corps of Engineers and the TMDL for the Lower James River that they are working on with the State of South Dakota.
