The Unviersity of Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi has decided to resign from his position at the school.  The decade long term will end June 30th when his contract expires.  He will stay on for a short time after to help with the transition to the next AD.  Maturi is known for streamlining Gopher athletics and helped build the brand new TCF Bank football stadium in downtown Minneapolis.  He is also known for some of the top sports to flounder under himn including the hiring of highly criticized former football coach Tim Brewster.
