Governor Daugaard Signs Initial Legislation



PIERRE, S.D. – The first legislative bill signed this year by Gov. Dennis Daugaard was HB1014, which prohibits false statements when applying for certain business or agricultural loans and grants from state government.
 
The new law, which was drafted by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and is effective July 1, makes it a Class 6 felony to fabricate or to overvalue land, property or other securities on applications for state financial assistance. Maximum punishment for a violator is two years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
 
Other bills signed by the Governor include:
 
HB1016 – Repeals certain rules relating to use of the Centennial Logo.
HB1022 – Revises certain parole hearing provisions regarding inmate compliance, waivers, and teleconferencing.
HB1023 – Repeals and revises certain provisions relating to the Department of
Corrections.
HB1024 – Repeals the authorization to sell certain surplus real estate under the control
of the Department of Corrections in Aurora County and Minnehaha County.
HB1025 – Makes aggravated incest a violent crime for purposes of setting an initial
parole date.
HB1048 – Expands the Board of Military Affairs.
SB0012 – Codifies legislation enacted in 2011.
SB0018 – Revises certain provisions regarding references to the Internal Revenue
Code.
