State Trooper Injured During I-29 Traffic Assist



DELL RAPIDS, S.D. – A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper responding to debris on Interstate 29 was injured Friday after her vehicle was struck by another motorist.

Lyndsey Dubbelde, a trooper stationed in the Sioux Falls district, had responded to an area south of the Dell Rapids exit, where boxes were scattered on the I-29 driving surface. Trooper Dubbelde was parked off the roadway on the inside shoulder with her emergency lights activated. She was about to get out of her vehicle when another motorist struck the rear of the patrol vehicle.

Dubbelde, who has been with the Highway Patrol since 2007, was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital to be checked for injuries.

The Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. No further information is immediately available.
